Kids Say The Cutest Things

A few days ago my two sons and I headed out to the car early in the morning. The sun was still stubbornly refusing to rise and the stars were like twinkling diamonds deep in the velvet darkness of the sky. We had just stepped off the porch when my four-year-old called out to me,
"Mommy! Mommy, look!" I was already looking intently on the ground as I walked holing my one-year-old's hand. We were all preparing to take Grandma to the Airport in Las Vegas. I looked back as my youngest paused to examine what must have been a very lovely rock. My oldest was pointing towards the sky.
"Yes, the stars out here are very beautiful." I urged my little one to drop the rock and keep moving; we were in a hurry. But then the classic words of a four year old lit my day and paused my feet.
"Mommy, I see the 'Milk Shake' up there!" There was absolutely no way not to beam back at him with all the love in my heart shining through my eyes.
"Yes Sweety, but it's the Milky Way not milk shake." And so our day began with that sparkling moment of levity.
